Cordova Covered Spaces
The Cordova Trail and Covered Spaces Project is working to build covered spaces along the existing roadways within walking distance from downtown Cordova, Alaska. Places for use and enjoyment by all.
Creating public use places to help people get out of the rain and to enjoy the waterfront & outdoors. Places to experience many opportunities including classes and education, creation of art, group meetings, family celebrations and more. Covered Spaces in our community that will offer improved year round quality of life in Cordova. Valuable spots to enhance the small, unique, authentic community of Cordova.
Current News
July 2025
We have raised $40,000. held under the Cordova Historical Society (the fiscal sponsor for Cordova Covered Spaces Project) at Wells Fargo Bank in Cordova, $20,000. of which is held in a cd earning interest.
We are currently working to complete the design and building plans for the Breakwater Trail Park location for a Covered Space. The planned design for this area will be 20' x 24', large enough to house 2 - 3 picnic tables. This first Covered Space location is at the tiny Breakwater Park location, by the buoy, Veterans Memorial and Breakwater Trailhead on the south side of the harbor near the Harbor Master Office. Existing Space
We have a few spaces that are covered and as things change, we hope to make sure we do not lose any covered spaces and that we gain some to enhance the community quality of life and benefit the economy.
Our Team
Our team consists of individual volunteers, local businesses, local organizations and is fiscally sponsored by the Cordova Historical Society a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
